Please note: PMT will not bore any block without having pistons. If you are not sure what kind of piston you need, we will be glad to make recommendations based on your application.At Powerhouse Marine Technologies, all cylinders are bored on a "true centerline" fixture. This ensures cylinder bores are machined geometrically correct to the crankshaft centerline.
After precision boring, blocks are then fixtured in the same manner as the boring fixture for honing. All blocks utilize a "torque plate" to ensure cylinder concentricity. Torque plates simulate cylinder head installation which can distort cylinder bores. The use of the plates ensure straight/round cylinders after heads are installed. PMT can also finish bore to any RA finish. Check with your ring manufacturer for their recommendations.
CYLINDER HEAD WORK
All cylinder heads are cleaned, pressure tested, and inspected before any machining is done. Once the inspection of the cylinder head is complete, the machining process is started. Since everything must work from the valve guide. That is the first order if business. Resizing - replacing or installing a bronze liner is first. Once finish fit is done, the seat and combustion chamber and bowl machining can begin. From standard three-angle valve jobs to more extensive bowl profiling five-angle. Once the machining process is done to the seat, bowl, and combustion area, the cylinder head will be surfaced. Only CBN (iron) or PFD (aluminum) cutters are used to achieve a perfectly flat smooth finish. Full service port/polish and flow bench service is available. Contact us for pricing and recommendations.
CONNECTING ROD RE-CONDITIONING

All rods are thoroughly cleaned, magnafluxed stress relieved, shot peened, resized , and rebushed with new bolts. Finish balanced is the final service before assembly.
All blocks are finished cleaned using a high pressure, hot water, solvent mixture which removes all honing grit, metal shavings, and other debris from all oil galleries, nooks and crannies that can ruin your engine quickly. This process is the only way to properly clean cylinder bores after honing.

Our proprietary coatings are the only way to go if you want the best in bearing and piston protection. Our oil shedding coatings are excellent for eliminating oil splash and adhesions on rotating parts. Horsepower gains and cooler oil temps are significant when this is done.
